Show Preview & Apple Festival

Thursday, October 2nd -  the big day with the show preview at 6 p.m.  We want to explore before getting in line for the preview at the old high school. First we wandered over to Jonesborough, home of the International Story Teller’s Festival, the other major event in this part of Tennessee. The countryside is beautiful with just a touch of fall color and Jonesborough is all decked out. Then it’s back to Erwin for a quick stop at John Hashe’s Main Street store and the new Valley Beautiful antique mall. We must say that the town doesn’t seem quite the same without Maxie English’s Blue Ridge shop, always a focal point for Blue Ridge pilgrims. It should also be mentioned that the Hanging Elephant, another longtime Blue Ridge shopping place in Erwin, has closed.
